A safe and homey place where we work together to create a meaningful day.
When living at home is no longer possible, you are welcome in one of our residential care centers in Amstelveen. At Brentano, we offer care in the broadest sense of the word, tailored to what you need to feel comfortable and safe. We do this with attention, expertise, and in close collaboration with you and your loved ones.
Living at Brentano
You live in your own apartment with a living room and bedroom, shower and toilet, and a kitchenette. Additionally, the apartment is equipped with an alarm system, telephone and TV connections, and blinds. You furnish the apartment to your own taste. We take care of the cleaning.
Our locations offer a home-like environment where socializing and rest go hand in hand. During the day, residents meet in the living room. There, they eat together, activities take place, and there is space for relaxation.
Brentano has four locations in Amstelveen: 't Huis aan de Poel, Nieuw Vredeveld, Klaasje Zevenster and Belmonte. All locations feature a restaurant and a garden or terrace. At 't Huis aan de Poel, Klaasje Zevenster, and Nieuw Vredeveld, a hairdresser and pedicure or manicurist are also available. You will find digital tours and floor plans on the location pages. We are also happy to provide a personal guided tour, so that you can experience the atmosphere yourself.
Taking care of daily life together
When you live with us, your life remains as much as possible as you are used to. You continue to do what you can and want to do yourself. And what your family or loved ones have always done can simply continue. That feels familiar and personal.

Together We assess what is needed. For example, your loved ones can help with small daily tasks, undertake activities together, or remain involved with practical matters concerning the apartment. We encourage this so that life with us stays as close to home as possible.
Our professionals provide support where necessary. They handle what cannot be done otherwise and offer expert care and treatment. This includes:
- personal care
- nursing
- intensive care
- assistance with daily life
- dementia care
- palliative care
Together, we ensure that you feel safe and maintain your quality of life.
When the final phase of life arrives, we offer our residents palliative care with attention to comfort, rest, and support for loved ones. This is a natural part of our care.
In addition, Brentano has a specialized palliative care unit, where people from outside can be admitted for care in the final phase of their lives.
Stay with treatment
If you reside with us for treatment, you will receive your medical care through Brentano, such as from a geriatric specialist, nursing home physician, or psychiatrist. Treatments such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, dental care, and pedicures are also arranged by us.
You make use of our institutional pharmacy. This care is reimbursed under the Long-Term Care Act. In this case, you cancel your own GP.
If you have supplementary health insurance, it is advisable to review with the healthcare institution and your health insurer whether it can be adjusted or possibly terminated.
Stay without treatment
If you reside with us without treatment, your general practitioner remains ultimately medically responsible. You use our institutional pharmacy, Farmadam.
Medical care and treatments fall under the Health Insurance Act. This also applies to care provided by physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, dentists, and pedicurists.
It may be wise to adjust your supplementary health insurance based on this. We advise you to discuss this with the healthcare institution and your health insurer so that your insurance aligns with your personal situation.
Dementia care
For residents with dementia, we connect with the here and now. We offer structure, calm, and rhythm, and at the same time fun and movement—exactly what is needed.
In times of restlessness, we opt for proximity and distraction. Sometimes medication is necessary. Residents live in a home-like environment with their own apartments and often spend the day together in the living room, where social interaction and rest alternate.
Moving partner along
Your partner can move into a couples' apartment with you, even if he or she does not have a Wlz indication. You will then be covered for treatment and receive medical care via Brentano. Your partner moving with you will remain under the care of their own GP, unless he or she also has a Wlz indication.
Indication and costs
A CIZ indication is required to live with us.
For assisted living, you pay a statutory personal contribution via the CAK via telephone number 0800 0087. The amount depends on age, income, and marital status.
