The Pink Carpet

The Pink Carpet

Everyone can be themselves at Brentano

Feel welcome at Brentano
At Brentano, we believe it is important that everyone feels welcome and can be themselves, regardless of their sexual orientation, background, skin color, religion, or way of life. Openness, acceptance, and respect are key values that we wish to uphold in our care. To ensure that lesbian women, gay men, bisexual people, transgender people, and intersex people (LGBTI) can also feel at home and safe in a care and welfare institution, the Pink Carpet has been developed.

Pink carpet
The Pink Carpet, an initiative of Roze 50+, is a quality mark to promote the social acceptance of LGBTI persons in these institutions and consists of a scan, an audit, and a certificate.

Brentano started raising awareness of (sexual) diversity several years ago. Through playful campaigns and accessible activities, this theme has been brought to the attention of employees and (neighborhood) residents on multiple occasions.

We are aware that organizing occasional actions and activities is insufficient to ensure the social acceptance, safety, and resilience of LGBTI individuals. Therefore, in 2019, Brentano chose to go through the Roze Loper process. This has led, among other things, to broader and structural attention to (sexual) diversity within our care organization.

Pink carpet certificate
Since 2019, Brentano has held the Pink Carpet certificate for all locations: 't Huis aan de Poel, Nieuw Vredeveld, Belmonte, and Klaasje Zevenster.

Color the love
Within Brentano, we consciously take a broader view of the themes of intimacy, sexuality, and sexual diversity. The need for intimacy and sexuality among older people also deserves continued attention. Under the motto “Color Love” Brentano actively shapes this theme and visibly promotes it, both within and outside the organization.
